Den engelska ing-formen i presens
T ex I am sleep-ing right now. He is play-ing games. Ing-formen används t ex när man talar om något som händer just nu. Formen bildas med be + stam + ing. T ex I am sleep-ing right now. He is play-ing games. He is text-ing his friend. We are listen-ing.
Enkel och pågående ing-form Enkel form – en vana I smile every day. You smile every day. He,she, it smiles every morning. We smile every friday. You smile every They smile. Händer just nu: I am smiling You are smiling He, she, it is smiling We are smiling You are playing They are playing
Ing-formen används när man håller på att göra något när något annat händer t ex: We are kissing, when my mum comes into the room. I am still waiting for help, when the teacher enters the room. She is smiling, when he enters the room.
Verb som slutar på stumt –e, tappar det, t ex hide- hiding, ride – riding etc. Ibland dubbeltecknas konsonanten framför ing-stavelsen, t ex run – running, swim – swimming. Verb som slutar på ie ändras till –y t ex, lie – lying, die – dying
