2 Chalmers University of Technology All newcomers get a 1h lecture on SD during their first week. A minimum of five weeks in sustainable development for Bachelors in Engineering sciences and Architects. Several elective courses, and 5/44 master programmes

3 The compulsory courses From the mid 80ies an ”environmental” course is required, now the requirement is in “environment and SD” Development of a tentative common core content in the courses. The faculty responsible for the SD courses meet once or twice a year to discuss common issues

6 ESD: Nine reform lines The task is to evolve an organisation that handles ESD at Chalmers, resulting in a suggestion that: 1.Guarantees and continuously enhances quality in Chalmers basic courses in SD. 2.Guarantees and continuously enhances quality of SD content in other courses. 3.Gives effective support to those who order SD courses. 4.Gives effective support to students when choosing SD courses. 5.Gives effective internal and external information about ESD. 6.Gives effective cooperation with internal and external (foremost Göteborg University) stakeholders within ESD. 7.Gives a good meeting place for Students and for teachers with interest in the area. 8.Supports further education of non-teaching personnel within the SD area. 9.Supports the development of a campus reflecting Chalmers initiative for SD.

8 Högskolelagen 5 § Högskolorna skall i sin verksamhet främja en hållbar utveckling som innebär att nuvarande och kommande generationer tillförsäkras en hälsosam och god miljö, ekonomisk och social välfärd och rättvisa. I högskolornas verksamhet skall jämställdhet mellan kvinnor och män alltid iakttas och främjas. Högskolorna bör vidare i sin verksamhet främja förståelsen för andra länder och för internationella förhållanden. Högskolorna skall också aktivt främja och bredda rekryteringen till högskolan.
