Biologi Ursprung från B-lymfomcyter belägna i den så kallade marginalzonen i den sekundära lymfoida follikeln. Marginalzonen är prominent i lymfoid vävnad som kontinerligt exponeras för yttre antigen t ex mjälten, mukosa-associerad lymfoid vävnad och mesenteriska lymfkörtlar. Lymfomutveckling kan drivas kronisk inflammation: autoimmunitet, infektion

SMZL Spleniskt MarginalZonsLymfom < 2 % av alla lymfoida maligniteter. Medianåldern vid insjuknande är 69 år. Den typiska patienten har splenomegali, som ett debutsymptom ≤ 20 % av fallen ses också autoimmun trombocytopeni och/eller anemi. Lymfomceller ses i mjälte, benmärg och vanligen också i perifert blod. Mera specifik immunfenotyp saknas men cellerna är typiskt positiva för CD20, CD79a och bcl-2 samt negativa för CD10, CD5, CD123, bcl-6 och cyklin D1 Oklart om lymfknuteengagemang finns tidigt. Stadieindelning ad modum Lugano Stage I - The tumor is confined to the gastrointestinal tract. It can be a single primary lesion or multiple, noncontiguous lesions.
