By default, an indexing server will not index files that are larger than 16 MB. However, you can modify this maximum file size by editing the following registry setting on the index server. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office Server\12.0\Search\Global\Gathering Manager If you increase the maximum file size, you should also review the connection timeout setting that controls the maximum amount of time to allocate to indexing individual files. Additionally, because documents are read into memory as they are indexed, you may increase the memory requirements for the index server if you increase this value.
