Changed consumption patterns and behaviors give rise to new demands on future methods for production and handling of food. Imports of fish and vegetables represent a significant proportion of consumption, 80% of fish and vegetables, and the popularity of these foods is increasing. Consumers are also increasingly demanding sustainable food and locally produced food. Therefore, locally and sustainably produced food is one of the most important factors in securing and developing the future of the Swedish food industry.
2
Circular and sustainable food production
Why?
3
Because by now we know this!
Substantial population growth means that we must increase food production to double. But we have to get smarter. Increased immigration to the cities entails social and urban stress. We must move production closer to cities and minimize transportation. Increased demand for food means increased stress on our supply systems and our environment. We must create sustainable production systems. Increased demand for fish and meat puts strain on an already depleted fish stock and over-consumption of agricultural land. We must produce in circular intensive systems. Increased need for clean water entails requirements for planning, economy and restraint of our water resources. We must reuse and conserve water resources. Our modern lifestyle is that we create huge anthropogenic garbage dumps. We must learn to take advantage of everything in a cycle. More powerful weather changes disrupt existing agriculture and consume water resources. Production in-house ensures control.

If the environmental aspects are not enough, maybe cash is!
Europe imported the following 2018 Goods at a total value of about SEK 22,586 billion. Fish, crustaceans, molluscs, etc. to the value of about SEK 240 billion. Edible vegetables, some roots etc. to a value of about SEK 54 billion. Edible fruits, nuts, melons, etc. to the value of about SEK 240 billion. Oilseeds, oil fruits, cereals, seeds, fruits etc. worth about SEK 120 billion. Mineral fuels, oils, distillation products, etc. to a value of about SEK 4716 billion, Raw hides, skins and leather worth about SEK 31 billion. The area offers an existing infrastructure adapted for sustainable and circular food production. Food-approved properties, Detailed planned land, high-capacity biological wastewater treatment plant and residual products can be handled by the biogas plant. Bjuv municipality and neighboring landowners focus on sustainable food production and offer expansion opportunities. The Food Valley of Bjuv is a cluster where entrepreneurs and innovators come together to develop the future of food production and food companies. We belive in taking use of residuals, onshore fish farms and indoor farming in circular Food parks
