MSL, framtida projekt Located 2 km north from here. History dates back to the research institute that was founded in 1937 for the Nobel Laureate Manne Siegbahn. Accelerator based research from the start. The accumulated knowledge of the present MSL is in fact the result of the experience gathered since then. The first accelerator, an 80 cm cyclotron was built already in the end of the '30s. Another larger cyclotron was built in the '50s and as a spinoff of the accelerator activities, several smaller research groups were created using the accelerator technology in the house. Thus it can be noted that much of the present atomic and molecular physics here at the Phys dept has their origin in these groups. I will talk about the latest major accelerator built, CRYRING in a little while. The staff today...
