10 UR ETT FORSKNINGSPERSPEKTIV Know what is concerned with establishing data streams about a ship’s operation and relationship with other key entities. Information exchange is the grease of coordination. Know how is concerned with how each of the parties in a service relationship executes its tasks. Know why enables the various parties in a relationship to identify opportunities for redesigning relationships to be more effective, New business model will be investigated whereby third party intermodal actors source some of the tasks normally performed by the shipping company.

11 BEHOV AV KUNSKAP OCH FORSKNING Sensor networks will be designed to automatically create data streams essential for measurement and operational efficiency. Metrics will be developed for standard ship operations (e.g., time in port, time per container for loading and unloading) as well as environmental issues (e.g., real- time CO 2, emissions per ship per day). Innovations and new methods will, create new tools, new processes, and business models, that will help digitally transform shipping.

12 EXEMPEL PÅ RESULTATOMRÅDEN Precise real-time measurement of fuel usage will expose potential areas for efficiency. Measuring key operational parameters for all engines will enable a shift from time-based to condition-based maintenance, which in the road transport use-cases realized significant savings. Combining data from various streams to create reports required by various partners and regulatory authorities will enhance reporting efficiency. Redesigning work flows for on-shore execution will take advantage of ubiquitous access to the information hub. Development of new ways to inform officers onboard and present the ever increasing amount of information,.
