To ensure that the research areas are relevant to society: –The centre is guided by strategic societal goals set by the partners ……and industry: –Projects are proposed by steering committees, approved by the board, where industry partners are in majority

18 ICS EKC² Fundamentals Research Projects –Fundamental research projects –Pilot projects –Technology Transfer project PhD Student programme –Expanded to cover all universities in Sweden Collaboration –Individual, National, Internationally

19 ICS Research projects All research activities performed as projects. A project is managed within one program but can include staff from other programs Projects are initiated (and terminated) by steering groups with industry participation. At project definition, the goals to be addressed and achieved are specified and approved by the board.

20 ICS Project guidelines The core activity is to strengthen and develop the competence profiles of the centre and programs. This is mainly done through fundamental projects Fundamental projects shall amount to at least 70% of the total volume. The degree of industry participation is highest in Pilot projects The different types of projects are managed and measured differently.
