Microsoft startade ett projekt som internt kallades ”Corefinance” med målsättningen att balansera kort siktiga investeringar med långsiktiga. Corefinance gick igenom de finanse processer och verktyg som användes internt hos oss. COREFinance Innebar: Gör affärsprocesserna så effektiva som möjligt, Automatisera och centralisera för att få skalfördelar, Prioritera och fokusera på de möjligheterna som har det högsta värdet Vad gjorde Microsoft Centraliserade all inköp, det var bara dyrare inköp som var centraliserade tidigare. Automatiserade all rapportering och prognostisering Det ledde till att kostnaderna sjönk och att statusen på Finance ökade till att bli en självklar diskussionspart i investeringar. IDC reports that information workers spend 48% of their time searching for and analyzing information, costing employers $28,000 per employee per year. This needle in a haystack approach is not acceptable in an economy where time and money are so valuable. Conflicting or overlapping data points require more time and labor to consolidate and can lead to incorrect assumptions or decisions. Revenues can be delayed or lost when disparate systems make it harder to identify late or missing payments or incorrectly price products based on a possible set of business rules. These added costs and lost revenues, while regrettable in the best of business times, could prove to be the tipping point between surviving or not today. Business decision makers need real-time access to accurate and reliable data. With a complete view of their business they can make better decisions and quickly react to changes in market conditions. At the business line level, as the economy slows companies are cutting back their production levels. But without proper visibility into their supply chain and the data that feed it, companies will see inventories build up and resources wasted, resulting in increased costs; or they may find that customers are taking longer to pay their bills, so account receivable and payable cycles are no longer aligned. Companies need to have a full vision of how slowdowns in one process will affect others so that they can quickly make the adjustments necessary to limit their impact. Companies now lament how piece-meal attempts to manage their IT needs during periods of growth have left them with multiple versions of the truth in their data. Several sources of data being used for a variety of purposes create a tangled web of data inaccuracies and complexities. Microsoft’s Business Intelligence, Dynamics, and Performance Management solutions provide the means of turning data points into actionable insight. Users can quickly and easily find the information they need, and accuracy they can trust. Allowing people to use their time to make decisions, instead of hunting for numbers, lets executives best manage both their business and their people as they navigate the turbulent economic waters of the day. Users’ familiarity with Microsoft products and interfaces mean that they will require less training. It also increases the speed and likelihood of adoption, two critical factors in determining the success in using technology to reduce costs. As budgets are cut and workforces are reduced, companies will find that they need their employees to be even more productive, while maintaining the flexibility needed to adapt to changing market conditions. Although technology plays several roles in improving productivity, without proper consideration it can do the opposite and increase complexity and impinge on performance. By eliminating time and labor intensive processes, companies can allow their employees to focus their efforts on the aspects of their jobs that create value and drive results. Familiarity with Microsoft products, interfaces, and features offer a great benefit to users who are asked to quickly learn and use the new systems that companies are implementing, leading to faster adoption, shorter training periods, and faster learning curves, and thus lower costs and faster returns on the investment. .  Microsoft Unified Communications can bring nearly immediate cost savings to organizations. Travel expenses can be avoided by using Web conferencing. Expensive communications costs (such as long distance charges) can be reduced by using Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and by consolidating communications infrastructure. An important component of using technology-based tools to improve productivity is ensuring speedy adoption and utilization of them. The best solution is worthless if users to not take advantage of the benefits it offers. By reducing the manual steps in a process and automating work-flows, companies will find their employees are able to accomplish more in the same amount of time. Role-based views mean that the right people have access to the right information. This added layer of security and control is critical in both improving productivity and managing the access of information. 18

By bringing all risk and compliance controls to a single platform, leadership can better manage, mitigate, and communicate risks throughout their organization One part of a business might not be aware of an exposure that another one has, an unknown link in their supply chain has, or that one of their customers has, and thus is unable to adequately plan for any disruptions that exposure might bring.
